I am a sucker for all things whimsical. I also have ugly bedroom windows that face the street.
When we found we were expecting a girl for our third child, the home office was chucked in favor of a girly girl’s room. Now, I’ve always been a tomboy and knew what boys liked, and I only had to decorate for them once since they shared a room. But decorate for a girl? Cripes.
And I was not going back to Big Famous Overpriced Yet Insanely Addictive Children’s Furniture Store for more abuse of my Master Card. So the windows went commando for a while.
Then, one day, I found adorable, funny, embroidered dish towels that while fab, were a little more than I wanted to pay to wipe my counters. But wait! What if I bought this one… and this one… and… okay, one of each kind, and sort of put them all together… does that mean sewing? Probably better to sew them… And the next thing I knew, I had the greatest dishcloth drapes that were perfect for Daphne’s room. Just look at that. All from the kitchen aisle.
But, you ask, should I worry about washing them? Nonsense! It’s what they were made for. They only get softer and more interesting with each wash.
Daphne loves her “friends” decorating her windows, and I love that I didn’t spend a fortune. Now, if I could only find a tablecloth for my bedroom windows…

But does she wipe her hands on them?

ok I love this idea. My son has curtains that I made from sheets. The best thing about them? They came with matching pillow cases in the set so he has pillows on his bed that match the curtains.
I love the curtains you made, they are simply adorable.
I also HAD to comment because my second child is named Daphne. I haven’t ever met another mom with a child named Daphne before. Great name choice!

Ok, Deb. Mom helped. Tattler.
(Deb’s my oldest childhood friend.)
If it weren’t such a bother to get to mom’s, I’d have posted photos of her drapes! She took two of my grandmother’s lacy tablecloths that covered a table seating 12 and threw them over a curtain rod. Pull them back, and WOW. So cool-looking.
